Shawarma Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-4 tablespoons water (as needed for consistency)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey
  • A pinch of paprika or cayenne pepper (optional for a spicy kick)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine tahini and lemon juice. Stir until the mixture thickens and becomes creamy.
  2. Add minced garlic, ground cumin, and a pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. The sauce should be smooth and pourable, but not too thin.
  4. Stir in olive oil and maple syrup (or honey) for a slight sweetness and richer flavor.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt or lemon juice if needed. For a bit of heat, add a pinch of paprika or cayenne pepper.
  6. Serve drizzled over shawarma, as a dip, or as a dressing for salads and vegetables.
